Singapore AirlinesQatar Airways and All Nippon Airways Here is the winning tierce publishing 2023 Sky Awards of the consultant Skytrax. Whether you like it or not, what has become the aviation equivalent of the Oscars in the United States serves as a benchmark for travellers.
The Skytrax awards are based on a questionnaire completed by more than 20 million passengers of over 100 different nationalities. They evaluated more than 325 airlines between September 2022 and May 2023.
One thing is clear: Asia remains the absolute benchmark for airline in-flight service. Of the top 10, 6 carriers come from Asia. In addition to 1st (SIA) and 3rd (ANA) on the podium, Japan Airlines came 5th, Cathay Pacific 8th, Eva Airways 9th and Korean Air 10th.
The Middle East is represented by eternal rivals Qatar Airways (2nd) and Emirates (4th). And for France, Air France and Turkish Airlines are the only European representatives. Air France ranks just behind Turkish Airlines in 7th place.
The French carrier is voted best airline in Western Europe for the third year running. Air France also obtains thetook first place in 3 categories linked to its La Première offering. The airline offers the best first-class lounge in the world, as well as the best gastronomic offer in its lounge. Not to mention the best in-flight catering - all in First Class.
Continuing down the Skytrax 2023 rankings, the next ten airlines include Hainan Airlines (11), Swiss (12), Etihad (13), Iberia (14), Fiji Airways (15), Vistara (16), Qantas (17), British Airways (18), Air New Zealand (19) and Delta Air Lines (20). The latter is also the only US company in the top 20.. The second best airline in North America is Air Canada, in 38th place.
Asia also dominates low-cost transport. The AirAsia group is the leading low-cost airline. The group comes 31st, followed by Singapore's Scoot (33) and India's IndiGo (43). In Europe, the top low-cost carriers are Volotea (54), followed by Transavia France (58) and AirBaltic (61).
