
Since 12 Julythe Tampa Convention Center has officially entered a new era. And it will have cost 38 million (€33.8 million) and 20 months of work to rejuvenate convention centre in Florida's third-largest citywhich attracts a large number of business travellers every year. According to Skanska USA, the company in charge of the project, this is the most important renovation project to be undertaken at this facility, which was inaugurated in 1990.


Skanska is talking about an expansion of almost 2200 m² infrastructure, but also the addition of new waterfront venues (1670 m²). These will provide new, flexible spaces for meetings and events. From the point of view of environmentalThe Tampa Convention Center has opted for a complete modernisation of its heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system, which should reduce its energy consumption. Finally, on the aesthetic side, the facade of the Tampa Convention Center has been given a new look, with multicoloured LED exterior lettering. Three rows of coloured lights have also been added to the façade. The aim is to light up the skyline of downtown Tampa, and to let everyone know where the convention centre is located.

The mayor of Tampa agreed, referring to " world-class improvements, worthy of a world-class convention centre and city" . Jane Castor also points out: " This is the largest renovation in the centre's history and ensures that the centre and the city of Tampa will continue to be a highly sought-after destination for meetings and events.".
