British Airways and Air Canada double their in-flight entertainment catalogue

The airlines are taking advantage of the summer to do their homework for the holidays, and they are clearly instructed toenhance the in-flight experience. For some carriers, this means making connectivity accessible to all, as in the case of Swiss now offering free wi-fi for all classes of long-haul travel. For other airlines, the focus for improvement is more on theIFE (In-Flight Entertainment), the entertainment system. This was recently the case with Air Francewhich has just unveiled new content. And British Airways is also taking this route, announcing on 1 August double the content available via its entertainment system. However, the British company has not expanded its catalogue so suddenly... This development has taken place over several months, since the beginning of 2023 to be precise. The fact remains that 'BA' offers more than 50 new titles, including Paint, Love Again and The Covenant, and boasts exclusive content thanks to the partnership with Paramount+. (Rabbit Hole: The Algorithms of Control, The Flatshare and Grease: Rise of The Pink Ladies). The cult sagas include the entire Harry Potter series, Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible.

We know how important it is to offer our customers a wide variety of entertainment during their travels, and it's one of the things they look forward to most when they travel with us."says Calum Laming, Chief Customer Officer at British Airways. We've teamed up with brilliant brands like Paramount+ and even created a channel dedicated to original British films. Whether it's a recently released blockbuster film or the latest podcast, there's something for everyone on your flight this summer." promises Calum Laming.

Air Canada connects to Apple TV+

British Airways passengers will not be the only ones to see their journey enhanced by more entertainment. Air Canada has also invested in a partnership, this time with Apple TV+. Until now, only American Airlines had this kind of content. With more than 2,500 hours of films, TV series and other audio content, Air Canada also estimates that it has doubled its catalogue compared to last year. In addition, Air Canada offers a live television with channels in French and English, since last November. A window on terra firma that will be particularly appreciated by sports-loving business travellers, who will have to take a long-haul flight in the middle of a decisive match...
"We are constantly evaluating opportunities to enhance our in-flight entertainment offering with new and exclusive content that will delight our customers."says John Moody, Managing Director of Product Design. "We look forward to welcoming our customers on board and watching their favourite Apple TV+ series, or discovering the latest audience favourites during their flight. Thanks to this new partnership with Apple, we are on track to increase the content of our in-flight entertainment system by more than 95 per cent compared to last year. We look forward to offering even more entertainment options by the end of 2023."he predicts.
