Scandic doubles up in Helsinki's future MICE spotlight

Scandic will be positioning itself in an up-and-coming MICE spot, Garden Helsinki, with the inauguration of two hotels backed by a new events arena.

Scandic continues to cultivate its domestic garden by strengthening its position in the Nordic markets. And a new prime location is about to be added to the Group's catalogue: the Taka-Töölö district in Helsinkiand more specifically the future Garden HelsinkiTaka-Töölö is set to become a strategic area for the Finnish capital. Hitherto renowned for its sports facilities - most notably the Helsinki Olympic Stadium - Taka-Töölö will be positioning itself more strongly in the MICE sector, with a new multi-purpose Arena. Work is due to start next year.

And to welcome the business customers in this new spot Scandic which has positioned itself as the benchmark player. Two establishments are expected by 2028. The programme includes a hotel Scandic with 227 roomsand a business address Scandic Go (232 rooms), a combo that will take up residence in the very heart of the Garden Helsinki building. The Scandinavian group's management has already identified promising potential, as confirmed by the CEO of Scandic Hotels Group: "We have a high level of activity at Scandic and we continue to strengthen our position in key attractive destinations where we see great potential."says Jens Mathiesen. "The Helsinki region is expected to generate around 5 million hotel nights from 2026, so the establishment of these two hotels is an important step in our growth strategy. It is also exciting to introduce our first Scandic Go, Scandic's brand in the fast-growing economy segment, to the Finnish market."he adds.

The first Scandic Go hotel opened in Stockholm in September

The company's first representative Scandic Go opened its doors in Stockholm last September. The group is even planning to repeat the experience in the Swedish capital at thesummer 2024This time in the Fridhemsplan district.
