Indeed, in the week ending 22 October, the number of international passenger flights returned to 51 % of the 2019 level, connecting 61 overseas markets. However, some markets have already exceeded their pre-pandemic capacity levels. These include, include the United Kingdom, Italy and the United Arab Emirates. Germany still had a deficit of over 40%.
More international flights this winter
On the international front, this winter season will see 6,502 weekly passenger flights operated by 116 airlines to 65 foreign markets. The increase in frequencies will be particularly significant for the partner countries of the Chinese initiative "Belt and Road (BRI), according to a CAAC spokesman.
According to consultant OAG, the number of seats offered internationally was still 43% lower than in October 2019. For a total of 4.96 million seats compared with 8.75 million in October 2019.
