The idea had been put forward last spring by Valérie Pécresse, president of the Ile-de-France region and of IDF Mobilité: reaching the airport of Orly via the extension of line 14will indeed be subject to a derogatory fare from its planned entry into service in June 2024. It will cost €11.50 per journey in either direction. The lucky ones will be holders of a monthly or annual Navigo pass: for them this journey will be included at no extra cost. This will take 16 minutes between the airport and Olympiade station, the current terminus, serving six stops(Maison Blanche, Hôpital Bicêtre, Villejuif, L'Hay-les-Roses, Chevilly-Larue and Thais-Orly) which will, however, remain accessible via a classic T+ ticket. IDFM is thus adopting the specific fare system in place to reach the Roissy-CDG airport hub by RER B(sold for €11.45 per journey). As a reminder, the CDG Express which will connect this airport non-stop to Gare de l'Est in 20 minutes by 2026-2027 has a projected fare of €24.
Transport fares in the Ile-de-France region will rise in 2024 and soar during the Olympic Games
According to IDFM's pricing plan - to be validated on 7 December next year - the cost of transport in Paris will rise for residents of the Ile-de-France region from 1st January 2024. The price of the monthly Navigo pass will rise to €86.40 (from €84.10) and the annual version to €950.40 (from €925.10). What's more, it's not just passengers who will be paying more, as the companies in Paris and the inner suburbs (92, 93 and 94) with more than 11 employees will also be required to contribute, with the rate of mobility payment increasing by 0.25 points (to 3.20%) from 1 January next year.
But the big surprise is the almost prohibitive pricing announced for the Olympic Games period from 20 July to 8 September. The day and week passes will be suspended and replaced by a Paris Olympics 2024 pass sold for €70 a week (compared with €30 at present) and €16 for an unlimited day. Visit single ticket will cost €4 instead of €2.15, and the book of 10 tickets 32, compared with €17.30 for the rest of 2024 and €16.90 today. It remains to be hoped that the service in transport either on a par with the event to justify these increases!
