We'll just have to live with it. Passengers whose flights were due to leave or land in Paris between 7 p.m. and midnight on 26 July 2024 will have to review their flight plans.. Either by postponing their trip, arriving earlier or landing elsewhere. That's right, the DGAC, the French civil aviation authority, has issued a decree temporarily banning overflights of the capital during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
From 7pm on 26 July, no aircraft will be landing or taking off. And this, within a 150 km radius of the capital. This therefore also excludes flights departing from Beauvaisin addition to those at Roissy CDG, Orly and Le Bourget. The twelve strokes of midnight will mark the lifting of this ban.
The authorities announced that they had taken this decision for reasons of security reasons. For the time being, the airlines concerned have not yet announced alternative solutions. The airports of Brussels or Lille could in fact accommodate certain flights if necessary. But with eight months to go to the opening ceremony, all options remain open.
