Inoui TGV fares are set to rise by around 2.6% in 2024 in exchange for a price freeze on Ouigo and Intercités trains. The independent distribution platforms are demanding fair access to fares and to all the products marketed by the rail companies.

Fare rises for Inoui TGV tickets, price freezes on Ouigo and Intercités: that's what's in store for business travellers in 2024, against a backdrop of rail competition deemed distorted by several distribution platforms.
After a average increase of 5% rates in 2023, the SNCF should once again increase that of TGV Inoui However, this increase will have to be limited to the rate of inflation, i.e. 2.6%, according to the government's wishes. This framework is unlikely to be to the liking of the SNCF Voyageurs who will have to deal with a new increase in rail tolls decided by SNCF Réseaux for 2024, of the order of +8% for the TER and +7.6% for TGV. Tolls now account for almost 40% of the price of a ticket for the latter trains. This new increase goes against the position of Roberto Rinaudothe French president of Trenitaliawho recently spoke out in our columns in favour of a reduction in tolls of around 20% in order to offer tickets at more attractive fares to stimulate demand. The volume policy chosen in Italy would, he believes, enable the maintenance of the rail network in France to continue to be financed.
A "fare shield" on Ouigo and Intercités services
After an increase of 5% this year, subscriptions Max Active will also be increased by 10% on 1 February 2024, an increase justified by SNCF Voyageurs by the boom in teleworking. In exchange for these increases for the Inoui TGVs, Transport Minister Clément Beaune has announced a price freeze on Ouigothe rail group's low-cost TGVs, which already account for 25% of its high-speed offering, and the Intercités which carry some 12 million French people a year. It has also been decided to introduce a maintaining ticket price ceilings for Advantage cards held by 4.5 million French people, which have already been increased by €10 this year. Lastly, the Minister confirmed that a Rail pass which, for a price of around 49 euros unlimited travel on TER and Intercités trains throughout France. Negotiations are still underway with the regions to define the final price. The government's intention is to copy a monthly TER offer launched in Germany by Deutsche Bahn in May 2023 at a similar price. This product was very successful in Germany throughout the summer period.
