
Since 27 Decembera train line operated by LTG Link, the passenger branch of Lietuvos Geležinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways, LTG), offers a return trip between Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, and Riga, the capital of Latvia.. The two cities are 300 km apart.
A standard train ticket between the two capitals costs 24 euros. and passengers can choose between second and first class. Tickets can be bought online or at the ticket office at Vilnius station. The train leaves Vilnius each day at 6.30am and will stop at Kaišiadorys, Šiauliai, Joniškis and Jelgava before arriving at Riga Central Station at 10.43am. On the return journey, the train leaves Riga at 3.28pm and arrives in Vilnius at 7.51pm.
The journey time of four hours is slightly longer than that of a private car. However, journey times are set to fall over the next few years with modernising the railways in the Baltic States.
The train offers superior comfort, including wifi connection, air conditioning and a catering service.. The train has a total capacity of 142 seats.
