The respite in German transport was short-lived. Barely strike action at Deutsche Bahn ended on Monday evening, other branches went on strike. The VERDI union has announced a strike at German airports on 1 February.. The strike will affect virtually every airport in the country. In this case, Hamburg, Bremen, Hanover, Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Dresden, Erfurt, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. Only the airports in BavariaMunich and Nuremberg will be spared through movement.

Friday 2 February doesn't look much better either. All public transport companies in Germany will be partially affected by a strike during the day.. With the exception once again of Bavaria. Last year, the Land of Bavaria signed an agreement with VERDI on wages. The agreement is valid for the whole of 2024.
A positive news however, for those travelling to Germany by train. VERDI is committed to not to call any further rail strikes until the beginning of March. A month of respite for train travellers!
