
A series of small gestures will add a new level of exclusivity to the airline's premium economy class. Singapore Airlines (SIA) with new features available on flights from 31 March 2024. This is the first complete overhaul of the in-flight experience in this Premium Economy class since its introduction in 2015. "Premium Economy has become very popular with our customers, said Yeoh Phee Teik, Senior Vice President Customer Experience at Singapore Airlines. Based on information gathered from our passengers, we have undertaken a complete overhaul of our Premium Economy offering which we are convinced will delight our customers. The result reflects Singapore Airlines' commitment to enhancing the Premium Economy experience to set it apart from the rest.
Premium Economy passengers will be offered a glass of champagne shortly after take-off. They can also consult a printed menu card listing the wide variety of meals, snacks and drinks available on their flight. The chosen meals will be served on a linen-covered tray, in elegant porcelain crockery created especially for Premium Economy.
SIA has developed more than 200 new starters, main courses and desserts as part of the extended in-flight meals for Premium Economy. Premium Economy meals will consist of a seasonal starter, main course, bread, dessert, cheese and savoury biscuits, all served on a full-size tray.
The company will offer more bread options, including croissants for breakfast or garlic rolls for breakfast, lunch and dinner. New appetisers include garlic-grilled prawns with smoked aioli and Patatas Bravas (Spanish-style fried potatoes), broccoli salad with hot smoked salmon and seasonal variations of Japanese cold noodles with soba sauce.
On each flight, passengers can choose between two main coursesinternational and Asian cuisine. Highlights include beef bourguignon served with bacon, mushrooms, vegetables and potato gratin, Bak Chor Mee (minced pork noodles) and Thai-style crab curry served with a combination of jasmine and brown rice, as well as seasonal vegetables and egg.
Customers can also choose from a menu "Book the Cook expanded, which includes up to 20 dishes available in rotation, to be ordered at least 24 hours before departure. The menu includes popular choices such as Singapore-style seafood Hor Fun and chicken Biryani, as well as new items such as braised lamb stew, teriyaki Sake (salmon in teriyaki sauce), and plant-based wellness dishes such as aubergine dumplings with mushrooms. Finally, the menu will include new desserts such as chocolate feuillantine cake, mascarpone cream cake and apple crumble cheesecake.
At the same time, meals are accompanied bya selection of wines and champagne exclusive to Premium Economy. In addition to the Champagne Charles de Cazanove Brut Tradition NVcustomers can choose between Wairau River Sauvignon Blanc 2023 and the St Hallett Faith Shiraz 2022. A wide selection of spirits, including whisky, gin, vodka, iconic cocktails such as the Singapore Sling, as well as a variety of beers, will also be available.
Peppermint and chamomile teas, as well as hot chocolate, are now part of the soft drinks selection. These drinks complement the existing wide range of soft drinks, fruit juices, coffee and teas.
Between meals, customers can also request new snack options such as almonds and cashew nuts. These are added to the crisps, assorted rolls, sandwiches, muffins and popcorn available.
Finally, SIA has joined forces with Out of the Woodsa US manufacturer of ecological and sustainable products, for a new toilet kit. The pouch, made from eco-friendly kraft paper, includes an eye mask and slippers made from recycled PET materials. The kit also includes a lip balm packaged in biodegradable material.
