A new MICE centre will soon be appearing on the FrankfurtMore precisely, next to the Lufthansa Aviation Center (LAC). The German airline made the start of construction official on 12 April, with the aim of opening in 2026. The inauguration will coincide with the centenary of the carrier.
The brand new conference centre will logically be placed under the air transportand will pay tribute to the history of the German airline. Those responsible for the project describe it as a "bright, hangar-style building", which will also house two restored aircraft - the Junkers Ju 52 "Iron Annie" and the Lockheed L-1649. The conference centre was designed by local architects AS+P Albert Speer + Partner.
The new MICE centre will cater for internal events of the company, but not only. "The Lufthansa Group's new conference and reception centre at Frankfurt airport will be a place where employees can work together in new ways. It should also be a popular place for customers and business partnersas well as aviation enthusiasts"warn those in charge of the project. The new building will measure 72 metres wide, 17.5 metres high and 53 metres long, with a total floor area of some 3,800 m².
According to company officials, "The new building is part of a consolidation process that has been underway at the Frankfurt am Main site since 2020, and which will reduce administrative and office space in various other local buildings by around 60,000 square metres, or around 30 %, by the end of the year".
