US residents now benefit from simplified checks on Air Tahiti Nui

By joining the US TSA PreCheck simplified screening programme, Air Tahiti Nui offers its passengers simplified security checks at over 200 airports in the United States.

Air Tahiti Nui joined the US TSA PreCheck programme at the end of March. This is good news for its passengers. The programme allows travellers considered to be "low risk" to benefit from more relaxed controls at over 200 airports in the United States.

The Polynesian carrier is offering the following services for the summer season 5 flights a week between Paris and Papeete via Los Angeles, and 2 flights a week between Paris and Papeete via Seattle.

The TSA PreCheck programme offers significant benefits passengers, including the possibility of keep their shoes, belts and jackets light when switching to security. What's more, the TSA PreCheck travellers are not required to remove their laptops, liquids and food from their hand luggageThis makes the control process more efficient and less burdensome.

A programme open only to US residents

To join the TSA PreCheck programme, passengers must Air Tahiti Nui can complete an online application at tsa.gov/precheck. They must then choose one of the registration providers, IDEMIA or Telos. The application process takes just five minutes and is followed by a 10-minute face-to-face meeting with the chosen provider to finalise the registration.

There is, however, one major restriction. This is because, only US citizens and permanent residents are eligible for this programme. Once approved, travellers receive a unique Known Traveler Number (KTN). To benefit from the programme, travellers must add their KTN at the time of booking. They can then take advantage of the special TSA PreCheck queues at security at all participating airports.
