With 69 hotels currently operating in France, Marriott is one of the world's leading hotel chains with the strongest presence in the country. Far, far away of course from Accor or Louvre Hotels, and also a fair distance from another major American player, Best Western, whose French network includes almost 300 hotels. But its offering is roughly equivalent to that of IHG, and far superior to that of other competitors such as Hilton and Hyatt.
Represented in France with 16 of its own brands, the American group can count on its contemporary mid-range brand Moxy to expand its offering in both major cities and secondary towns. Among the ten openings planned in France between now and the end of 2025, the brand, which already has 9 hotels in France, will set up in Annecy and Clamart, near Paris, this year, before Nice at the end of 2025.

Among other projects, the Aloft chain will be making its appearance in Dijon later this year, revisiting the former Hôtel des Postes, dating from 1907, as a lifestyle establishment with around a hundred rooms, a trendy bar, a wellness area with an indoor swimming pool and meeting rooms. " Conversion and adaptive re-use projects account for almost half of the properties expected to join the Marriott portfolio in France by the end of 2025.explains Alexandra Joguet. This allows us to add hotels in key city centre locations" .
Business travellers will also enjoy new addresses in Lyon with the Courtyard by Marriott Lyon East, close to Lyon Eurexpo, and Lille with a Residence Inn by Marriott aparthotel, both of which are expected to open by the end of next year. However, the American group will also be demonstrating its pre-eminent role in the luxury hotel sector in France. In the same spirit of transforming existing sites, Marriott is currently working with Studio Mumbai, Studio Méditerranée and Festen Architecture to rethink a former convent in the heights of Vieux Nice.
Future member of the Luxury Collection, Hôtel du CouventThe hotel, which will open this summer, will be housed in walls dating back to 1604, restored using methods from the past, and will offer 88 rooms, several restaurants, as well as five meeting rooms, the largest of which can accommodate 160 people. Still on the Côte d'Azur, Marriott is also planning to open a Tribute Portfolio hotel in Mougins.
