Lufthansa is continuing to improve the connectivity of its Bavarian hub because of the greater flight capacity at Munich and probably because terminal 2, dedicated to Lufthansa and Star Alliance flights, offers greater comfort than Frankfurt.
The German carrier, which has just inaugurated three weekly flights from Munich to Seattle by A350, has just announced its winter schedule. Featuring the return of the Munich-Sao Paulo. The latter will be served by Airbus A350 three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 December.
The company has also indicated that it will be extending its route all year round Munich-Vancouver. Once again, the route will benefit from three weekly Airbus A350 flights every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. The same extension will apply to the routes launched this summer on Johannesburg and Seattle. Lufthansa will continue to serve them during the winter season. Lufthansa has also announced that it is putting a Airbus A380 from Munich to Bangkok, Delhi and Los Angeles.
More destinations with the Allegris cabin
In its winter flight schedule, Lufthansa will also be serving other destinations with sound new cabin interior, Allegris. In addition to Shanghai and San Francisco, where the new product is already being offered this summer, flights to and from Bangalore and Cape Town will feature Allegris cabins.
Lufthansa's interest in Munich is reflected in the overall figures for the Bavarian capital's airport. Munich continues to Gaining market share in FrankfurtGermany's main air hub and Lufthansa's main hub.
Over the first four months of the year, Munich recorded 11.4 million passengers. This represents an increase of 15.1% compared with the same period in 2023. This is a more than the average for German airports (+11.9%) between January and April 2024. This is also six points more than in Frankfurt, where passenger numbers are up by 9.1%, with 17.6 million passengers.
Two more American cities from Frankfurt
The group now links 26 cities in the United States from its various European hubs. Frankfurt has not been neglected by the German national carrier.
