Air Transat will now be present in Nantes "all year round", to use a very Québécois expression. The airline will in fact be annualising flights from the metropolis in Western France to the city of Montreal. This strategy follows the conversion of two other seasonal routes, Lyon and Marseillewhich will become permanent in 2023.
The carrier will offer two flights a week during the IATA winter timetable with two classes on board, a traditional Economy Class and the Club Class, equivalent to Premium Economy. The cabin is spacious, with audio and video equipment integrated into the seats. The flights are already on sale and will be operated exclusively with new-generation Airbus A321LR aircraft. These single-aisle wide-body aircraft are quieter and have the lowest fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions (CO2 and NOx) of any other aircraft in their category. They are also part of Air Transat's ongoing efforts to promote sustainable development.
Nantes is popular
Thanks to these new flights and a simple connection in Montreal, passengers departing from Nantes will also be able to reach three other international destinations: Cancun in Mexico, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and Cayo Coco in Cuba.
More generally Nantes continues to attract new carrier routes already present at the hub. Lufthansa opened three weekly flights to Munich at the end of April. Easyjet launched flights to Naples on 2 June (two flights a week) and Corfu on 28 June (2 flights a week). Finally, Air France's low-cost subsidiary, Transavia, has been serving the island of Kos with a weekly frequency since April.
