Singapore Airlines has just published its schedule for the IATA winter season from the end of October 2024 to the end of March 2025. The airline is continuing to improve its offer. It will operate 2,292 passenger flights on average in March. This represents the carrier's largest offer (including the Silk Air offer, now merged into SIA) since the first quarter of 2020, before Covid. However, seat capacity remains 17% lower than at the start of 2020.
Singapore Airlines will operate flights to 79 destinations. Compared to the pre-covid timetable, however, around ten destinations have disappeared. These include many cities in Indonesia and Chinawhich is one of the network's strengths.
The airline is still awaiting authorisation from the authorities to resume flights to Bandung and Semarang in Indonesia, and to Chengdu, Chongqing, Shenzhen and Xiamen in China. However, these Chinese cities will be served until 24 October. The carrier is also reducing the number of flights to Guangzhou (one daily flight instead of two) and Shanghai (4 daily flights instead of 5).
SIA also has no current plans to resume several routes it operated before 2020 on the Pacific and Europe. These include the two capitals of Australia and New Zealand, Canberra and Wellington. As well as Düsseldorf and Stockholm in the EU.
Frequency adjustments in Europe
For the 2024-2025 winter timetable, capacity to Europe remains broadly similar. The carrier will serve 14 destinations. SIA to offer two new weekly non-stop flights to Barcelonain addition to its three weekly flights via Milan. The route follows the recent launch of flights from Brussels and London-Gatwick.
In fact, it's Paris-CDG which will see the biggest reduction in capacity in Europe. According to the SIA programme, the number of frequencies will fall from 14 to 11 flights/week from 2 December. The service will even be reduced to a single daily frequency between 15 and 31 January. On London-HeathrowThe number of flights per week will be temporarily reduced to 24 from 28 until the end of November. In fact, by 2025 Paris should have its two daily frequencies back.
This decision is based on delayed deliveries of new aircraft at the same time as maintenance operations of its fleet. A situation that Singapore Airlines has to juggle with. And it is forcing it to make cuts in its frequencies...
However, in Asia and the Pacific, the carrier is expanding to a number of destinations. SIA is launching a daily flight to Beijing-Daxin. It is also increasing its weekly frequencies to Auckland, Christchurch, Cochin, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Penang, Phuket, Siem Reap/Angkor and Sydney.
