Visitor numbers up in the United States

American hotel occupancy is back on track. According to STR, the occupancy rate rose by 5.7 % to 54.9 % in the first quarter of 2010. At the same time, the average price rose by 3.1 %, leading to growth in revenue per available room (RevPAR) of 9.0 %, to 54.5 $. San Francisco, Dallas, Detroit and Oahu in Hawaii recorded RevPAR increases of over 15 %. In contrast, New York recorded a 2.6 % drop in visitor numbers, to 70.1 %.
