The focal point of the Maltese hotel industry, the seaside resort of St Julian's has seen a succession of new establishments open, including a leisure hotel. The seventh hotel to appear on the continent - another is expected in Reims next year - the Hyatt Centric Malta offers 170 rooms and everything you need for a relaxing stay, with a restaurant serving local cuisine and a rooftop swimming pool, as well as three meeting rooms for business travellers.
In this context, the neighbouring city of Valletta in particular offers a major new business hotel with the ME Malta, from the five-star lifestyle brand of the Spanish Melia group. Long-awaited, this hotel is part of the Mercury Towers complex, designed by the architectural firm of the late Zaha Hadid. This is the brand's second collaboration after ME Dubai, which will open in 2020 in the Opus building, a sort of melting ice cube with a hole in its centre.
This time, the ME Malta is part of a complex comprising a 33-storey tower - the highest in the country - built on the foundations of the Mercury House dating back to 1903, and another 20-storey tower to house the hotel's 113 rooms and 27 suites with their avant-garde design. The whole complex will be joined by a podium dedicated to high-end shopping and dining.
True to the brand's arty DNA, in early 2025 ME Malta will be offering a lively venue to the sound of DJs, the Radio Rooftop Bar, for what is being billed as " the the city's trendiest rooftop" . Located on the top floor, it has been extended a little further down, to 8eThis is followed by another rooftop dedicated to relaxation, the Cabana Club, with its infinity pool, Italian restaurant and panoramic view of the Maltese coast.
All of which can be used for business meetings. In addition to its leisure and festive dimensions, the hotel is also a key venue for hosting corporate events, with a 1320 m² of MICE space. Foyer, 230 m² plenary room, two sub-committee rooms, three Thinking Labs: the ME Malta offers a creative setting for events just a stone's throw from the Mediterranean.
