Which airline had the best punctuality on arrival in South-East Asia in October? Analysis by Cirium, an airline consultant which regularly analyses aircraft movements.

The consultant's latest report on South-East Asia for October contains a number of surprises. The big winner is Malaysia Airlines. According to Cirium, 82.07% of the Malaysian national carrier's inbound flights arrived on time last October. The company posted an even better initial performance at 84.66%.

We are, however, a long way from the Asian leader in terms of punctuality, China's Hainan Airlines. This airline posted an on-time performance of 87.14% for its inbound flights, reports Cirium.

In the Cirium ranking for South-East Asia, second place goes to Philippine Airlines. The Philippine national airline saw 81.12% of its flights arrive on time. On departure, PAL posted a punctuality rate of 82.38%. In third place was the low-cost carrier Indonesia AirAsia, whose flights recorded a punctuality rate of 80.34% on arrival (81.29% on departure).

Poor results for many national airlines

The performances of the other national carriers remain more disappointing. In particular those of Singapore Airlines, Vietnam Airlines and Thai Airways International. Only the Indonesian carrier Garuda achieved a good performance: 78.95% of its flights arrived on time.

As for Singapore AirlinesSingapore's national airline has an arrival punctuality rate of 76.17%. According to Cirium, this punctuality deteriorated over the first three months, reaching 78.47% in August and 77.25% in September.

Flights arriving from Vietnam Airlines had an on-time performance of 74.69% in October. The Vietnamese carrier's performance remains hampered by the saturation of the infrastructure at Than Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City.

As for Thai Airways InternationalIts performance in October remained below 70% for its inbound flights. Cirium reported a punctuality of 69.99%, the worst with that of Cebu Pacific. The Philippine low-cost carrier posted an arrival punctuality of 69.97% for its flights in October...
