Consolidation rather than expansion. This is what Brussels Airlines plans for the 2025 summer season. The Belgian national airline will operate a fleet of 50 aircraftThis fleet, with six more aircraft than in summer 2024, will serve 91 destinations.
However, the Belgian airline is talking more about strengthening its routes than opening new ones. The only new feature of the summer network will be the launch of a non-stop service to Funchal, the capital of the island of Madeira in Portugal.
The company will also expand its network mainly in the Mediterranean basin. Brussels Airlines will be offering additional flights to Faro and Porto in Portugal and increasing its capacity to Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga and Valencia in Spain. It will also be extending its new route to Fuerteventura in the Canaries over the summer season. The route was launched this winter. To Greece, Brussels Airlines will be strengthening its summer service to Lesbos and Samos. Still around the Mediterranean, the carrier will be adding frequencies to Tangiers in Morocco.
For the rest of Europe, Brussels Airlines is planning more flights to Birmingham and Vilnius. Brussels Airlines will take over the majority of daily flights from its Lufthansa Group partners, Lufthansa and Swiss.. Lufthansa currently offers five daily flights to Frankfurt and three daily flights to Munich. Brussels Airlines will operate these flights from the summer.
The Belgian carrier will also take over Swiss's Geneva and Zurich routes. This winter, Swiss is offering 9 weekly flights to Geneva and up to 3 daily flights to Zurich. However, these four destinations are already part of the Brussels Airlines network.
On the long-haul network, Brussels Airlines to add 11th Airbus A330-300 aircraftThis will be a record number of flights in the airline's history. Details of the long-haul network for summer 2025 will be announced shortly.
