Schools, hospitals, government departments, electricity and gas companies: many trade unions are mobilising on 5 December for a day of action against the cost-cutting measures set out in Michel Barnier's government's draft 2025 budget. Or the late Barnier governmentboth the possibility of the adoption of a motion of censure is high this Wednesday, even before the start of this strike day.
The civil service is the first to be affected by this industrial action, air transport will also be affected due to a cross-industry mobilisation launched by several unions. This prompted the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) to ask airlines to reduce their schedules as a precautionary measure.
In the Paris region, 10% flights departing from Paris CDG flights are expected to be cancelled on the morning of 5 December, between 6am and midday, while at Paris-Orly, cancellations will take effect from 6pm on Wednesday 4 December, with 25% of flights expected to be cancelled. Two provincial airports will also see their traffic disrupted, in particular that of Marseille, where the cancellation of half the flights has been requested from 6pm on 4 December. In Toulouse, these disruptions will affect 20% flights all day on 5 December. As delays are also to be expected, passengers are invited by the DGAC to consult their airline, or even to avoid taking the plane that day.
