There was already the CambodiaIndonesia, Japan Malaysiathe Philippines and Singapore. Now it's their turn, South Korea and Thailand introduce electronic authorisation on arrival for foreign visitors. At South KoreaThis electronic authorisation is effective since 24 February. It can be completed three days before arrival in the country.
However, if the visitor does not enter Korea within 72 hours of presenting the e-Arrival Card, it will lose its validity. The information must be entered on the specific site e-arrivalcard.go.kr . This formality is free of charge.
Visitors can also download a PDF file of the form they have submitted, but this will not be required by the immigration authorities. The form can also be submitted for several people at the same time. However, in parallel, the Korean authorities will continue to accept paper arrival cards. And this until the end of 2025.
In Thailand, the government has confirmed the launch of the Thailand Digital Arrival Card from 1 May.. It replaces the TM6 paper forms. These had been suspended for travellers since July 2022 in order to speed up entry into the country.
The new digital platform should reduce waiting times at the Kingdom's borders. Further details and the address of the site are to be announced in the coming weeks.
