Waiting at checkpoints: Lyon airport shows its colours

Lyon airport is offering its passengers a new service, with a real-time display of the waiting time at the Screening Inspection Stations. The aim is to reduce stress for business and leisure travellers.

Passengers at Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport have recently been able to benefit from more detailed information during their journeys, thanks to a screen placed at the entrance to the Screening Inspection Stations, on the public area side. This screen shows the estimated waiting time between entering the queue and passing through the security gates. Passengers can thus manage their airport schedule with greater peace of mind.

This new information system is based on information gathered by several cameras, which are able to count the number of passengers in the queue and those passing through the security gates. An algorithm then determines the waiting time before boarding. For the time being, the information is limited to Station 15 in terminal 1, but will be rolled out to all access controls by the end of the year.
