Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland now visa-free for Vietnam

Following on from France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland are now entitled to a free visa on arrival for Vietnam. This is long-awaited news for travellers from these three countries.

It's finally done: Since 15 August 2025, citizens of twelve additional European countries have been able to enter Vietnam using just their passport. However, it must have valid for more than 6 months from the date of entry into the country. This is a new opening for the country, which is now making tourism a priority for its economic development.

Among the twelve European countries, Vietnam will grant a free visa on arrival to citizens of Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland.. In addition to the twelve new European countries, another government resolution specifies that the Vietnam also exempts a series of professions which, until now, were subject to a specific visa. This concerns government guests, researchers, professors, engineers and high-level experts, as well as major investors and influential figures from the world of culture, sport and tourism.

These people can receive a special exemption card allowing them to enter Vietnam several times for a period of up to five years, provided that their passport remains valid for at least 30 days beyond their intended stay.
