American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) has a new asset to add to its catalogue. TMC had recently focused its attention on SMEs, to whom it dedicated the Travel Toolbox. This time, the travel giant is targeting structures on a completely different scale. In this case, companies operating in the energy, mining and maritime sectors.

The crew and group logistics platform unveiled on 11 November by Amex GBT is designed to rationalise travel in these industries, which have specific needs and very high volumes of travel.

TMC claims to have drawn not only on its decades of experience, but also on a test phase carried out this year. This involved more than half a million transactions with this type of customer. These tests have enabled the company to claim solid performance: the solution can handle up to ten bookings per minute.

" The platform embodies our deep understanding of and commitment to our EMM and oil and gas customers "says Swapna Nair, Director of the Energy, Mining and Maritime sector at Amex GBT. " We have tested and developed this specialist technology with input and feedback from our customers to meet the unique operational complexities of these industries, offering multiple booking options tailored to their individual needs. ".

Amex GBT's solution - which can also be targeted beyond the energy sector, to include media, consultancy and crisis management - also focuses on flexibility. According to the TMC, it can integrate seamlessly with customers' workflow systems, enabling automated booking, while also supporting batch import of travel plan spreadsheets. The tool can also offer travellers several itinerary options, and is backed up by round-the-clock support from Amex GBT teams.
