Faced with the stalemate in negotiations, the French government decided to call in the police - the Gendarmerie du Transport Aérien (GTA) and the Police des Frontières (PAF) - to smooth traffic flow at airports affected by the strike. This is particularly the case at Roissy, where travellers have had to be patient this week to be able to board their flights. Nevertheless, the impact of the strike is generally limited to delays, with no flight cancellations, despite the contagion to new airports such as Nice and Basle-Mulhouse.
On the sidelines of this strike by security guards, the national airline pilots' union (SNPL) has issued another threat to air traffic, calling for a four-day strike in February.
