Le Lufthansa Group has begun to unveil its winter 2026/2027 programme with a series of new routes that are already available for booking.
For Lufthansa itself, the winter schedule is characterised by an accelerated rollout of the new Allegris cabin, as well as more routes on the long-haul network from both Frankfurt and Munich.
From 25 October, the German airline will inaugurate a direct link between Frankfurt and Kuala Lumpur, operated five times a week with a Boeing 787-9 equipped with the Allegris cabin. This new route is part of Lufthansa's growth strategy in Southeast Asia, a region considered particularly dynamic for business and premium leisure travel.
Introduced in 2024, the Allegris cabin represents a genuine upgrade of Lufthansa's product across all travel classes. The product is characterised by new seats, premium materials and the latest generation of technological equipment. Following the launch of the new onboard service on long-haul flights at the beginning of May, Lufthansa is now extending this experience to eleven new destinations.
Departing from Frankfurt, passengers will be able to enjoy Allegris comfort to Vancouver, Houston, Denver, Atlanta, Detroit, San José (Costa Rica), Seoul and Kuala Lumpur. Chennai (Madras), India, will also join the programme from March 2027.
From Munich, Lufthansa will deploy Allegris to Singapore from the end of October, then Washington in spring 2027 and Cape Town in South Africa.
More frequencies on the intercontinental [route]
In parallel, Lufthansa is also planning an increase in frequencies on several high-demand long-haul routes. Frankfurt, in particular, will benefit from more flights to Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá, Lagos, Hyderabad and San José. From Munich, capacities will be strengthened to São Paulo, Mexico City, Johannesburg and Washington.
The other Lufthansa Group airlines are not to be outdone and are also expanding their programmes for next winter. However, this does not include Austrian Airlines, for which the group has not announced any new developments.
Swiss will thus inaugurate a route between Zurich and Bengaluru (Bangalore) and will introduce its new SWISS Senses cabin experience on the Johannesburg and Shanghai routes operated with the Airbus A350.
ITA Airways will launch a seasonal route between Rome-Fiumicino and Santo Domingo, its first destination in Central America, whilst consolidating its new routes to Houston and London Heathrow.
Brussels Airlines will extend its new Brussels-Kilimanjaro route into winter due to high demand, with up to two flights per week during the peak season.
Point-to-point traffic
For airlines more focused on point-to-point and leisure traffic, Discover Airlines will be flying to Agadir and Fez in Morocco, as well as to Ivalo in Finland, from Munich this winter.
Eurowings is focusing on high-demand European and Nordic destinations. From Berlin, the airline will notably launch a route to Kuusamo in Finland and increase its frequencies to Rovaniemi and Kittilä. The Berlin-Rome and Berlin-London Heathrow routes will also operate during winter. Eurowings is thus confirming its status as the leading carrier from the German capital. From Düsseldorf, Madrid will become a year-round destination.
For its part, Swiss's leisure arm, Edelweiss, will strengthen its offering to Scandinavia, particularly Finland, Norway and Swedish Lapland, while also increasing capacity to the Canary Islands, Faro, Bilbao, Seville and Mallorca.
