Travellers departing from the Caribbean islands now benefit from a smoother connection to France. Indeed, since June 1st, Air Caraïbes and the regional carrier LIAT have implemented an interline agreement to allow for the booking of a complete itinerary to Paris-Orly with a single ticket.
This new cooperation puts an end to a frequent constraint for passengers travelling from the region's smaller islands, who until now had to purchase several separate tickets. An intra-Caribbean flight with LIAT, followed by the connection to Paris with Caraïbes, with no possibility of onward travel in the event of a delay.
With the new agreement, passengers benefit from a single booking, simplified check-in and automatic baggage transfer to their final destination, as well as re-routing in the event of a missed connection attributable to one of the two partners.
Improved connectivity for the Caribbean archipelago
The agreement also relies on the complementary networks of the two companies. LIAT ensures regional connections to many destinations in the Caribbean, notably Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Barbados, as well as St Maarten, in the Dutch part of the island of St Martin.
For its part, Air Caraïbes connects Paris-Orly to the main French destinations in the region with around 30 flights per week. This includes Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana in South America, and Saint-Martin. The airline also serves several major Caribbean tourist markets, notably Punta Cana and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, as well as Port-au-Prince in Haiti.
Thanks to this interconnection, a traveller departing from Dominica, Saint Lucia, or Saint Vincent can now reach Paris with a single booking and a single check-in via Fort-de-France or Pointe-à-Pitre.
A regional development strategy
This initiative is part of Air Caraïbes' commitment to strengthening its network beyond its own destinations. In recent years, the airline has increased partnerships to improve access to overseas territories and facilitate connections.
Following the launch of combined train and plane offers with SNCF and the development of cooperation with other regional carriers, the agreement with LIAT therefore constitutes a new step in the construction of a more integrated network across the entire Caribbean arc. And to highlight a true "Caribbean air hub" between the two carriers.
