The European business travel sector is welcoming a new player in corporate payments: the US-based company Expensify. The provider, which specialises in expense management, has announced the European launch of its Expensify corporate card, which is part of the Visa network. Whether in the UK, Spain, Ireland, Poland or the Netherlands, businesses of all sizes will be able to link their card expenditure to the expense management solution. Companies registered in the Benelux countries, Ireland and several Northern European countries will also be able to benefit from this service, according to the list on the Expensify website.
Whilst Expensify, as part of its international expansion strategy, also offers a ‘Bring Your Own Cards’ programme – which supports corporate cards from over 10,000 banks worldwide – this new development provides its customers with a ‘branded’ card. Among its key benefits, Expensify highlights real-time visibility and control over expenditure, the issuance of single-use or time-limited virtual cards, daily or monthly settlements, a simple set-up process to link any business bank account in euros, sterling or dollars, as well as discounts of up to 50 % on the Expensify subscription. Two-way accounting synchronisation is also available with QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite and Sage Intacct.

New advances in AI
By automating the management of expense claims and the analysis of expenditure using natural language, this virtual assistant is expanding its scope of action. This includes conversational analytics to identify expenditure by employee, category or supplier, as well as a chat function for submitting, amending, approving or even rejecting expense claims. Configuring policies and creating rules is also simplified, particularly as it is possible to interact with Concierge AI via email, text message or the Expensify app.
Taking this a step further, Expensify has also recently announced the launch of Expensify MCP, enabling AI assistants – ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and OpenClaw, amongst others – to use the MCP protocol to securely access Expensify data and analyse it via natural language queries.
Furthermore, the corporate card launched by Expensify in Europe supports VAT with built-in tracking, and enhanced statements make it easier to comply with regulations in the UK and the EU. As part of this, the solution will also benefit from the partnership established last May with VAT IT, a global specialist in VAT recovery, with a presence notably in Europe and Canada. This is achieved through an integration that enables Expensify’s customers to simplify VAT recovery processes by automatically synchronising eligible expense data with VAT IT.
However, Expensify’s European customers will not yet be able to benefit from a new feature announced on 13 July: consolidated travel invoicing and centralised expense management without the need to issue corporate cards. In short, this is an embedded card for bookings made via the Expensify Travel booking platform, which is – for the time being? – only available in the United States.
