Lufthansa is expanding its culinary offering on its aircraft and, from September, will be offering passengers additional options to add more flavour to a flight with the airline. This greater culinary choice applies in particular to short- and medium-haul routes, which are generally the most neglected when it comes to in-flight meals.

With Onboard Delights, Lufthansa already offers a range of fresh meals, snacks and drinks for sale in economy class. Some of these products can even be pre-ordered by passengers before departure. The service was launched in February 2023 and has been continually developed since then.

From 1 September 2026, five hot dishes will be added, which will only be available to pre-order. Pre-ordering is available up to four weeks before the flight and remains possible until 24 hours prior to departure. The five dishes include a beef roulade with potato dumplings, teriyaki chicken, tortellini with tomato and courgette sauce, Berlin-style currywurst, or a cheeseburger.

Beef roulade, teriyaki chicken and tortellini are served with a dessert, the classic sausage with a bread roll. These hot meals are, however, only available on flights of more than two hours.

New offer also available in business class

Lufthansa also offers a new service for business class passengers on long-haul flights. Since August 2023, they have been able to choose their main course in advance on flights departing from Frankfurt and Munich.

From 1 September 2026, this pre-order option will also be extended to a large number of long-haul flights returning to Germany. Customers will thus benefit from a greater choice: they can now choose from six main courses instead of three, anywhere from four weeks to 24 hours before departure.
