With a slowdown in passenger traffic in September (-1.6%), Paris airports The company now expects a slight decline in its activity for the entire year 2026. The increase in government taxes on air travel has now been accompanied by a deterioration in economic conditions in France and the soaring oil prices, which weigh on ticket prices.

Air transport in France was already in a bad situation. The Aéroports de Paris group, which manages the two main Parisian airports of Orly and Roissy CDG, confirms this: passenger traffic has declined by 0.4% over the first nine months of 2026, totaling 80.89 million passengers. The decline stands at -0.9% at Orly and -0.2% at Roissy.

Internationally, the most affected geographic segments in the first nine months were, unsurprisingly, the Middle East, which fell by 12.9%, Latin America, which declined by 3.3%, and North America, which fell by 1.5%.

Europe remains stable with growth of 0% and +0.2% in the Schengen area. Passenger traffic between Paris and Africa shows a modest increase of 0.7%, while Asia-Pacific shows the strongest growth rates at +3.3%.

Does the decline in traffic in September signal a trend in the long term?

Nevertheless, the downward trend continues in September. Passenger traffic has lost 1.6% year-on-year. The decline is spectacular at Orly, which recorded a 7.9% drop in traffic in September. The only good news: traffic is increasing again at CDG, up 1.5% in September. Against the apparent decline in leisure demand, there is some resilience in business traffic, more present at Roissy.

Given these trends and the traffic recorded in the first 9 months, the ADP Group is revising its passenger traffic forecast for Paris in 2026. It is now expected to decrease slightly compared to 2025 (vs. an annual growth previously expected around 0.5 %%). The Group anticipates a current EBITDA for 2026 in the lower end of its forecasts, around 2,300 to 2,350 million euros, announced during the publication of the 2026 half-year results.
