Minimum service will have to wait: that's the lesson to be learned from Wednesday's decision by the Senate and the Socialist majority, who were due to vote on UMP MP Eric Diard's proposal to introduce a framework for the right to strike in the air transport sector. The bill had set off a firestorm a few days earlier, prompting Air France unions to launch a four-day strike. The senators adopted a preliminary motion preventing the right to strike from being undermined, by 175 votes to 168, resulting in the rejection of the text. The Senate's decision does not, however, bring the matter to a close: the text is now being prepared for the reverse shuttle, and will shortly be submitted to the National Assembly, at an unspecified date.
