Le Figaro understands that two giants of the airline industry, Air France KLM and Etihad, have begun talks aimed at strengthening the two groups and their services: "According to our information, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has entered into negotiations with the Franco-Dutch group to sign commercial agreements", reports Le Figaro in its columns on Wednesday. The daily adds: "The two airlines could thus set up a 'code-share' system. (...) Air France-KLM could sell flights to destinations operated by Etihad, based in Abu Dhabi, and in exchange Etihad would sell tickets on routes operated by Air France-KLM". Le Figaro relies on the confessions of a French executive, who indicates that he prefers cooperation to confrontation for the good of both airlines, in a highly competitive context.
