Work to extend terminal 2 at Nice airport is due to start in early 2023

The growth ambitions expressed by Nice airport management at the start of 2012 - notably with the launch of the project for a new Terminal 3 - could be slowed by a recent announcement from Christian Estrosi. This week, Nice's mayor spoke to the chairman of the board of Côte d'Azur airports. The reason: a total ban on night flights at the Nice hub. Already applied to the noisiest aircraft, the measure could be extended to guarantee the peace and quiet of local residents. In comments relayed by the local daily Nice Matin, Chrisitian Estrosi cited Orly airport as an example, noting that it "seems essential to first settle this issue, which has remained unresolved for nearly five years". It should be noted that a similar procedure was ordered by the German courts at the end of 2011 in the case ofFrankfurt airportwhich was also looking to continue its growth with the inauguration of a new runway.
