IATA report: a promising start for the airline industry

This week, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) published its results for January 2012, which saw a promising increase in passenger numbers compared with the same period in 2011.

2012 got off to an encouraging start for the airline industry: on 29 February, IATA published its figures for January, showing a significant increase in passenger numbers (+5.7%). The international association was nevertheless keen to put these figures into context: the Chinese New Year, which exaggerated the increase. IATA also pointed out that the market is facing "two major risks": rising fuel prices and the debt crisis in Europe.
