Hotel barometer climbs in March, Paris spared

The average price of a night in a hotel is rising in most of Europe's major cities, particularly in Rome, Amsterdam and Vienna. The trend highlighted by the trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI) affects Parisian hotels less directly.

The trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI) published on 8 March by the online booking site highlights the soaring hotel prices in Rome, Vienna (+29%), Istanbul (+189%) and Vienna (+18%). Nevertheless, the top three remain the same: Paris and London (+6% to 166 euros and 183 euros respectively) remain the two most expensive destinations behind the indisputable Geneva. Conversely, Berlin (+7% to 97 euros) and above all Athens (+8%) limit the damage.
