According to the review of 2011 presented on Thursday by its Chairman Jean-Cyril Spinetta, the Air France-KLM group suffered from an "economic environment and geopolitical crises [which] weighed on business". So the crisis, but also the revolutions in the Arab world and the earthquake in Japan are not unrelated to the turbulence experienced by the Franco-Dutch group, which is also suffering from the rise in fuel prices. The bill at the pump rose by 16.3% in 2011 for AirFrance KLM, to represent some 6.438 billion euros. For the airline's management, salvation will therefore come from the three-year rescue plan (2012-2014) unveiled in mid-January, the first results of which should be seen in the second half of 2012.
