The major European airlines have therefore - finally - decided to join forces to oppose the ETS dossier, which introduced carbon tax into the aviation sector. Alongside aircraft manufacturer Airbus, they include Air France, Lufthansa and Iberia, as well as British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Air Berlin. All these heavyweights are asking their European representatives to adjust the carbon tax, at the risk of exposing the industry to serious economic consequences, particularly in terms of jobs. The rebellion organised by Airbus in particular also seems to be linked above all to the threats of reprisals from the Chinese authorities, which are likely to result in order cancellations by the aircraft manufacturer.
