Finnair launches its anti-time zone helmet

Finnair is taking an unprecedented step, offering business travellers the chance to reduce the impact of jet lag by using light-diffusing helmets based on the principle of light therapy.

The company Finnair turned to a Finnish manufacturer - in this case Valkee - to embark on this path still unexplored by other carriers: from now on, business travellers in business or First class will be offered this anti-jet lag helmet. In practical terms, the earpieces emit light through the ear canal, imitating daylight. This light stimulates certain areas of the brain, helping to reduce the feeling of tiredness and nervousness in travellers. The test phase is due to start in March and run until the end of April on flights between Helsinki and Shanghai. The helmet will also be available for sale, and the offer could be extended if it proves popular with travellers.
