Good figures for the airline industry in February, but IATA remains wary

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) published its results for February on Tuesday, announcing "solid performances" tempered by "a fragile outlook".

February saw a significant increase in passenger numbers (+8.6%) compared with the same period in 2011, according to data published by IATA. The Middle East made a particularly strong contribution to this upward trend: as February 2011 was disrupted by the Arab Spring, the region posted a skewed increase in 2012 (+23.4%). Europe posted respectable results, close to the global average (+7.6%), while North America recorded the weakest growth (+4.3%).
