Romania wants a new airport

Romania is planning to build a new international airport, Bucharest South International, with a view to adding to its already ageing airport facilities.

After twenty years of stagnation in the airport sector, Romania has decided to give its facilities a facelift: the Bucharest South International project, which will cover some 255 hectares some twenty kilometres south of the Romanian capital, is expected to cost €200 million according to initial estimates. The hub's initial capacity of two million passengers a year should then be doubled.
