The Brazilian market is fast becoming a must for business travellers, particularly for major hotel groups and airlines. Lufthansa has just announced the launch of a new frequency linking Frankfurt and Rio de Janeiro six times a week from 28 October. The Carioca airport will then be served every day except Monday.
The German carrier could soon be taking another airline heavyweight in its wake: American Airlines has just filed a request with the Department of Transportation (DOT) to add 17 frequencies to its flight schedule to Brazil. If approved, this extension would mainly concern the New York-Sao Paulo and Miami-Rio de Janeiro routes, as well as services to Recife and Salvador from Florida airport.
