"Riu Xiang", meaning "joy, luck and Swiss quality": this is the new face of Mövenpick in China. Like other brands before it - notably Mercure, which became "Mei Jue" last February for the local market - the Swiss group has adapted its name and image to the specific characteristics of the Chinese market. In addition to the formal changes, which also include the launch of a Mandarin-language website, Mövenpick is embarking on an in-depth project to conquer the Chinese market, opening two establishments in 2013 and a third in 2015. The Mövenpick Hotel Jiading will offer 300 rooms in Shanghai, while the Mövenpick Resort & Spa, Phoenix Island, Sanya, will have 380 rooms.
