Trivago index: Paris takes off, Athens plummets

The trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI) published on 14 June shows a significant increase in rates in Paris (+10%) in June compared with the same period in 2011.

While the capitals of southern Europe, led by Athens, saw hotel prices plummet in June - -22% for the Greek capital, followed by Lisbon (-7%) and Madrid (-5%) - Paris and London remained on the up (+10%) according to the latest trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI). The two capitals are reporting average overnight stays of €209 and €225 respectively on each side of the Channel.
