So what is Jet Airways' flight plan? While there is no doubting the Indian carrier's desire to expand internationally - mainly in Europe - the means to achieve its ambitions remain uncertain. Its CEO Naresh Goyal recently mentioned negotiations with Star Alliance, but also with rival SkyTeam. The European destinations of the alliance led notably by Air France-KLM - with Paris and Frankfurt at the top of the list - would be of particular interest to Jet Airways' management when it comes to making its decision.
This procrastination has not prevented Star Alliance from expanding its network, with the announcement on 21 June of the arrival of Copa, Avianca and Taca Airlines. The three South American carriers enable Star Alliance to add nearly fifty airports to its network, which now covers 193 countries thanks to its 27 member airlines.
