After more than four years of work and an investment of nearly €330 million, this week sees the official completion of the redevelopment of Terminal 1 at Changi Airport, Singapore's famous airport. On 18 July, local officials will officially celebrate the major facelift given to the airport's historic terminal: "Terminal 1 occupies a special place in the hearts of many Singaporeans, given its long history," says Lee Seow Hiang, CEO of the Changi Airport Group. "We are proud to have preserved this heritage while preparing it for the future. With a contemporary ambience and upgraded services, passengers and visitors will still be able to enjoy a world-class airport experience in Terminal 1. As a result of this vast modernisation plan, based on the theme of a "tropical city", Terminal 1 now offers 22,000 m² of additional facilities, guaranteeing greater comfort and fluidity for the many business travellers using the hub. Other improvements are also planned, notably to the airport car park, which should increase T1's capacity by 14% to 24 million passengers a year.
