"Rationalisation" seems to be the watchword for airlines this summer, in Europe and particularly in France. A few days after Air France's announcement that it will soon be withdrawing from the Paris-Strasbourg route, it is Vueling's turn to desert a French domestic route. The Toulouse-Lille route, which has been operated by the Spanish airline for around a year, has already been withdrawn from its schedule. Meanwhile, on the international front this time, Lufthansa is reorganising its Asian network. The German carrier has announced the end of the Munich-Singapore-Jakarta route from mid-October. Frankfurt will then become the departure point to Singapore, while Jakarta will disappear from the airline's network.
Toulouse-Lille: Vueling comes off the radar
Airline companies are successively making official the reorganisation of their schedules, particularly on the French domestic network. Air France, Vueling, and soon Lufthansa on international routes, are putting the emphasis on profitability. At the same time, they are reducing the range of choices available to business travellers.
