Ikea will soon be entering the hotel market. This was confirmed on 16 August by an official of the group in a Swedish daily, who spoke of an ambitious project, initiated in 2013, and involving more than a hundred establishments. These hotels will not carry the colours of the famous furniture manufacturer, or even the supplies of the yellow and blue brand. The investment is estimated at one billion euros, and should result in hotels that are both economical and practical, particularly when it comes to Internet access and check-in and check-out formalities. The hotels are to be located in city centres, mainly in northern European destinations such as the UK, Germany and Belgium.
