
There was little doubt as to the outcome of the dispute: as the leaders of the powerful UFO union suggested a few days ago, negotiations with Lufthansa management have failed to produce an agreement. As a result, the German airline's cabin crew will embark on strike action voted at 97% in August, which is expected to disrupt traffic as early as this week, possibly on Thursday 30 August. The union, which represents nearly 20,000 employees, is due to announce in the next few hours when the disruption will begin.
